What is Comet Elenin?

Elenin or C/2010 X 1 discovered by Russian astronomer Leonid Elenin on 10 December 2010 is a comet travels in a long elliptical orbit around our Sun. His latest discovery, only little is known about Comet but it caused a stir among astrophysicists, who work hard to try and nail down just his size (very small they think) mass and orbit.

Jet Propulsion Laboratory NASA has an interactive program, the Elenin of the orbit with the currently known information point variable positions. We know it is to enter this year solar our system (in fact already done so, fleeting Mars), make its perihelion around the Sun, gone to Earth, then back again be in the room.

Space distance being measured in astronomical units (AU) 1-au is the distance between the Earth and the Sun. Elenin is passed currently within the Earth after it in turn makes the Sun of 21.7 estimated au. But the exact location/path is unknown. There are many factors that could affect this with the slightest push/pull create unexpected results. Gravitational forces of planets in the inner solar system like this is during the Comet, which could potentially be incoming path aligned, caused, that the path (and the gap between themselves and the Earth) to expand or decrease. But even that is being discussed.

Academics at Cornell University, Mensur Omerbashich, has presented a paper outlining his theory that there is a concrete link between cosmic orientations and seismic activity on Earth, on the basis of his theory of the hyper resonance. He presented evidence that some earthquake on planet alignments or full moon happen. He Agues, which the Comet Elenin typical pointed out is that it was for us on the opposite side of the Sun during the Japanese earthquake and tsunami. Keith Hunter expressed similar views about the link between cosmic events and earthquakes at the recent Elenin video conference.

Astronomer Andy Lloyd at the Conference, also makes the observation that if Omerbashich wants to believe his theory, he must pick the track of a future incoming Comet, its course plot, up to an alignment with the Earth and the Sun then predict seismic unrest here on Earth, preferably before the time!

Omerbashich predicts that Elenin still strong seismic activity around the world through 2011 to August-October to step up.

Here last night in Auckland, New Zealand, we had a 2.9 earthquake, only a baby when compared to the last quake of Christchurch and aftershocks, but it is certainly the first, I have feeling in this region, which is not generally prone to that shakes an area and other parts of the country is Shudderings. Such things together with all the earthquake activity around the world now cultural remit of the spirit in in view all potential options and causes.

NASA David Morrison is of the opinion that we do not know the gravity of Elenin be. Don Yeomans of NASA in the near Earth object Program Office at JPL States that "you have a modest size icy dirt ball, which always is no closer than 35 million kilometers... it will have an immensely tiny impact on our planet."

Australian, Ian Musgrave paper on Elenin in it also sees in his dissection of Omerbashich in his Astroblog. He is of the opinion that Omerbashich has failed to factor in the main belt asteroids and 46 other comets, which reached perihelion in 2010 and asks why Elenin different behavior should everyone than these other objects in the room. He explains that "the most plausible astronomical source of earthquake is the Moon, which the strongest lithospheric tides." But he has also as a way at the end of his blog.

Something creates much upheaval around the world. Whether it is caused by cosmic events, is hard to nail down nature of the people caused effects or mother.

For all interested in a much broader more esoteric approach to the topic of Elenin Chairman Kerry Cassidy from project Camelot a roundtable video conference on 24 June of the Comet, the posts by Richard Hoagland, Andy Lloyd, Keith Hunter, Carl Johan Calleman, and Joseph Farrell all with slightly different takes on the meaning of Elenin (if any) included. This is a fascinating Conference and reminds me, that that only an approach based on the existing know half image in dark leaves, and is much less fun!

For some reason KOMET has captured people's imagination.

Yeomans summarizes it so beautiful.

"Comet can provide... not on a great show but there are to see reason..."This intrepid little travellers provide a way to study a relatively young Comet, who came here from the region beyond our solar system planetary astronomers. After a short time it will be raced back again and we will not see or hear from Elenin for thousands of years. "This is pretty cool."

The big picture: A vision for our future in space

Many visions for our future in space have been submitted in the Government and academic proposals (from NASA and other organizations), business plans of the companies (such as Bigelow Aerospace) and, of course, science fiction (which 2001: A Space Odyssey is a famous example). There are plenty of visions, but having all of them catch up to the point of obtaining the support necessary for successful implementation is a challenge. Some visions were very grand, in the hope that gathered the necessary support, while other more modest, in the hope, adequate support would be easier to get. So far, none of the visions for large usage of space (in particular, human presence of low Earth orbit) have reached the required support. A good question is: why have on none of these visions for space caught? A related question is: why should we implement all space-vision?

In March 2011 Buzz Aldrin (the second person the Moon) and joined Stephen Hawking (physicist and author), a unified space vision continue to expand of our presence in the area "the perpetuation of the species with a timetable to ensure increasingly ambitious missions" to promote, but with the help of the current technology missiles that comprehensive development programs are not required.[1] An alternative vision, (former Director of Johnson Space Center) and others, presented in a report 2009 by George Abbey advisable, the NASA on energy and environmental concerns.[2] These efforts strive to develop a compelling vision to get the necessary support. It is clear that they still not quite successfully in the process.

The visions presented tend to deal, as we go could to do the work for the vision, cursory attention to addressing why we want to achieve the vision. Speaking as an engineer, this is understandable when you consider that most of the visions of engineers designed and we want to find out, how to do things, to determine how a vision may be the most fun is part of. While determining how is a necessary part of the implementation of a vision and show that it is possible, without a clear statement of why it is important and what concerns are covered by this vision and how it visions are better than other them, it becomes difficult to support required to achieve the vision to acquire. This, I believe, is the heart of the matter. Consider the Apollo program and the "space race" between the United States and the Soviet Union. The motivation was klar-- the threat Kennedy felt by the USA and President a long speech put his proposal at the end of Congress about national security. The vision was to definitively show that the United States had more features than the USSR. So, Apollo was a generally felt concern, and did so in a way that avoided a direct conflict, a real possibility at the time. Those who suggest that a new space race-this time perhaps with China or risk of an asteroid impact the basis for a new vision for space should attempt to use the same basic motivation, who was successful in the Apollo program, fear of the threat of environmental damage. During Apollo successfully on this motivation appointed, a serious disadvantage was also revealed, namely, ended the motivation with our success. In other words, fear can be a successful motivation for short-term performance. But proponents want to space long-term, continuous development of the space and this is, as we can reach the largest use so a vision based is required on an other motivation. The task of finding clarity for such a vision we see us.

If for space exploration, introduced in 2004 as part of the Shuttle Columbia accident a year earlier it is President Bush his vision it is the open on a theme: "the desire to explore and understand", bring "tangible benefits, to improve our lives in countless ways."[3] This is much more supported a long-term vision, but as the needed support proved difficult.

There is another factor, of a framework for the Apollo program that seems to be such successful implementation of crucial importance. Kennedy's phrase, that in the space "deserves the best of humanity and the opportunity for peaceful cooperation never again can progress" expressed a higher purpose. The thrust (pun intended) of the programme was to peaceful cooperative activities (even if in a competitive race"") aligned and this higher purpose guided our actions, including the last Apollo mission, with a Soyuz spacecraft of the Soviet Union to join. Four decades after Apollo 11 landed on the Moon is, how much for peaceful cooperation to. While current topics can motivate, helps a clearly understood cause higher purpose to focus and our efforts. This is canceled in the survival of the space station program, which was almost by the Congress in 1993, survived with the inclusion of Russia as a partner. The higher purpose was to promote the peaceful interaction with Russia after the end of the cold war.

So, what can we learn from all this? For the greatest chance of success for companies in the space of a long-term, continuous support must the vision clearly large felt concern of the public, in respect meet, to offer no advantage other approaches. The motivation for the vision needs to promote long-term efforts, and the vision include a higher purpose, which results in our actions and calls us to give our best. A desirable higher purpose for a view of the space remains peaceful international cooperation development, although other purposes also well suited to our efforts, but to do the cooperation can result what? Public concerns, of an appropriate basis and approaches to international cooperation, which could allow most progress may be handled in the next article of this series.

The Earth is normal wobble, but to what extent?

It's hard to say why people believe crazy things. Many people in our society believe that an Apocalypse, Armageddon, or an end of time, say it soon, "soon" it. Not long ago, I had the opportunity to meet someone, who believed this. In fact, he had ensured that the Earth in the Sun wanted to fall. In fact he taken selectively dug up various scientific reports, and these all from the context to prove that his theory was correct.

His theory again, that we are all doomed to condemned were to be crispy Critters and burn into a fiery hell, such as the Earth's orbit decays and we fell into the Sun. Now, if you come across some conspiracy theorists, or something, watch late-night conspiracy theory hear this kind of coast to coast talk show on the radio, you know, that you do not care. Let me explain.

It was a very cool article I cut off from the newspaper a couple of decades ago and stored it in the pages of one of my books of Geoscience. It was released on 25 July 1988 with the title in the Washington Post; "Variations pressure tied to wobble in the Earth Poland," by Boyce Rensberger. The article explains;

"Differences in air pressure at various points on the Earth-push, the planets to & provide a 3 month to the Poland as much as 2 feet over a period of 3 weeks-wiggle." Scientists at the US Naval Observatory here reported in the journal nature. A small fluctuation within the known wobbles about 16 ft above cycles of 365-433 days happens. "Poland wobble when the axis of rotation-the line from the pole position N. by the Earth moves to the S. pole - exact positions walking over the surface."

Our Earth wobbles and as far as we can tell always has it, and it probably always will. Within the atmosphere and within this bubble buffet, as it travels around the Sun appears. Could we expect that the changes in the weather, in the ocean, or even the periodic melting ice the patterns of flow, either from our Poland increase or decrease based on - ice age/warming periods. However, not we should be worried, because this has been for hundreds of millions of years, and it is expected.

We should learn more how our scientists learn more, and how our scientific technology is robust and precise monitoring of such things. But only because we will learn more about these phenomena does not mean it is the end of the world. It means only that different cycles converge at different times and different readings give, as we have come to expect based on previous research in the geosciences. In fact, I hope you please look at all this and think about it.

Astronomy for all

Search for the stars
If observed, the first question is the night sky is a restless mind: what is a star? A star is a big ball of hot gas and bright, produces the own energy through so-called nuclear reactions that take place core Center of the huge temperatures reach the star in the and appear as luminous phenomenon that accompanies us on our observations of the night sky on a clear night.

Stars have a lifecycle as all living things are born, grow to develop and grow and eventually die and disappear more or less violent, such as an explosion of supernova that can trigger the process of the birth of new stars. But it happens so slowly that they can be seen in the human timescale.

The universe is an almost infinite space place for millions of stars, star clusters and galaxies rated,. The distance from the Sun, which is the nearest star to Earth is called the astronomical unit, AU and amounts to 149,597,870 km. Since the speed of light is 300,000 km per second, about eight minutes to reach Earth is observed from the Sun of visible light. The next nearest star to the Sun is Proxima Centauri, and the emitted light takes over 4 years in which to reach Earth. This means that if you look at the stars, "see" as it was more than four years and not know how in this day and age. And in fact, if you observed the Sun with the right eye protection, it "sees" what was it about eight minutes.

Molecular clouds
On clear nights in particular in the field with a small telescope, far away from cities or towns, which illuminate the night sky considered see also areas of fog you where rated stars, which are born in the constellation of the same name Orion or M42. These are called molecular clouds.

Molecular clouds are very large and deep dark clouds, which are formed by a gas hydrogen (99%) and interstellar dust in a very small proportion (1%) called, but enough, so that the star may be born under certain conditions. One could say that the raw material of star formation provide for these clouds.

The embryos of future stars within the molecular clouds are hidden and only the radio and infrared waves of the electromagnetic spectrum emitted by these embryos of stars, through these dark areas - not the visible light. We can with suitable devices such as telescopes in space or radio antennas on ground-based observatories interpretation of the results of the data and develop a theory of the formation of stars.

The birth of a star
Although the proportion of dust in the small compared with the amount of gas is cloud material, these clouds are so extensive, yes millions of stars like the Sun to sufficiently produce thousands mass gather.

The education process is raised, if for some reason, there is a 'fragmentation' of the cloud, they break with enough to start density relationship between the amount of weight and the occupied band in fragments slowly shrink. The reason being is a close Supernova - the final phase of the stars with large mass - can be the arrival of a shock wave from the explosion mentioned above from a fragmentation.

This process is irreversible, the fragment cloud continues to contract and be orders of magnitude larger than the original cloud - fragment - from those to a value twenty is enough mass to start, the force of gravity acting poet, make reduced so that it under its own weight collapses the cloud. This event is the core of the Star: Protostar that clouds continue to fall on the rest of the field of fragment.

As material still in the Protostar fall, it begins to rotate, pushing matter jets (such as geysers) long distances and, so that turns the Protostar is not too fast, which would cause high speed their disintegration.

Due to this initial rotation is preferred in the Equator Protostar the matter of the cloud, form, what is known as a drive, role, orbiting the Protostar, and which may be the seed of a future system of the planet to filed it, similar to how the solar system.

This first phase of the star formation takes about 100,000 years and how it is darkened by the dust cloud. We have to use, as mentioned above, telescopes (capture the emission of radio waves) or infrared detect radio telescopes at this time. Then is visible as the material on the Protostar and fragment of shell falls gas and dust cloud dissipates, the embryo. The collapse happens in a Sun-like Star a million years after the start of the process.

A new star
After ten million years, the first process of contraction of the collapse of gravity at the end. During this time, the temperature of the Protostar has grown enormously, and this temperature is so high that the collapse at the end of the thermonuclear reactions start happening with hydrogen as fuel in the core of the star, making it a heavy element with the name helium. At this point, we can say that a new star is born and main sequence is referred to as a phase of life.

The star is stable, as it is known as hydrostatic equilibrium in a State: the power, the outward (the pressure of the energy produced by nuclear reactions) presses is through the power of gravity to the inside, pushes balanced.

Select computerized telescopes

If the car can into the exciting world of astronomy, decision on a telescope (especially your first one) as a daunting task. But a few questions and with a little you know how you will be able to make the right telescope decision that all the requirements your star star gazing. If you have determined that you especially are interested in the computer-based telescopes, you have already achieved, your options simplify the process something narrow.

Before I purchase in some of the features a computerized telescope, it is important to understand the difference between this type and traditional areas. Computer-based telescopes (GOTOs as they are also called) use a computer to certain objects, you find that you are looking for. Rather than not, this will require a handheld device and after the object is found, the scope holds it in view for you. Traditional areas require to use the viewer star cards somewhat competently and know the constellations. Without this experience it very difficult for beginners to use a telescope, if she are interested in what they are efficiently can to specifically search for be.

Now that you know the difference between a GoTo statement and a traditional telescope, it is time to find out whether you need a reflection or breaking size. If you are a beginner, we recommend that you invest in a telescope breaking because they require little maintenance and cleaning. These ocular pieces resists a bit more wear than reflect areas, so that if in my computer telescopes for a child, probably the best choice for you. Working with a glass lens, breaking areas bend light beams and is then seen through the eyepiece.

If an extended you users of around telescopes and has used it previously, is a mirror version probably for you. The computerized telescopes are incredibly fragile and must be treated at any time at all with extra caution. Show the best result is constant care and maintenance an absolute must. Is most often used by professionals and reflective areas do not hinder or distort colors. Reflective versions spotting are employed while breaking ranges are used for the display. They collect to turn light beams through the telescope in contrast such as breaking type. The rays will be sent in parallel lines, and then on the scope in only one row. Regardless of your level experience specific with astronomy, you can safely that it a telescope to find corresponds correctly to your individual display goals.

Tour of the solar system are coming!

You ever look up in the night sky and question me, what are these objects there? Where do we fit on Earth? We are part of the solar system that is in a larger unit, the milky way here on Earth.

A Galaxy is a combination of gas and dust of billions of stars, which are held together by gravity. Galaxies can spiral, barred spiral, elliptical, and irregular shaped. Our Milky Way Galaxy is a spiral galaxy.

Our solar system is composed of eight (or nine depending on how you count.) Planets, asteroids, meteors, comets and the Sun. The Sun is about 93000000 miles away from Earth and is the center of the solar system. The Sun is a star that emits energy of nuclear reactions in its core.

The planets in order from the Sun are mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto (if you count it.). The word "Planet" is of Greek origin that means "the Wanderer". Because "Wanderers" to "Walking" across the sky tracks. Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars and Pluto are "terrestrial" meaning that they are like Earth, as they have rocky areas. The outer planets are gaseous, as they are inner and outer coat to made of hydrogen and helium with a rocky core. Each planet is orbiting a different time, the Sun. Mercury is the shortest orbital period of only 88 Earth days. Naturally, Pluto has the longest orbital period of 248.5 Earth years.

Some of the planets have moons orbiting it. Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto have at least one or more moons. Some of the outer planets have rings around them. Saturn is the most famous for this. The rings are billions of ice-covered rock fragments from and dust particles.

There are a number of other orbiting celestial bodies of our Sun. Asteroids, comets and meteors scattered in our solar system. Asteroids are pieces left on the planet in particular in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter, available. You can be as small gravel or hundreds of miles.

In fact, comets are dirty snowballs, orbiting the Sun. We look at the rule not will develop comets as "tails" but the tail, until the Comet gets close to the Sun. This is because they burn gases. The tail consists of two parts the ionized gas, partials in color and dust that the yellow colour are bluish. A comet is elliptical orbit and planet can have gravity effects on its orbital path.

Meteors are part of the comets that have canceled. The pieces continue to travel, as the Comet went when it broke up the same way. This path crosses Earth we find meteor shower, and if some of these meteors to earth fall, they are called meteorites.

I hope you now have a better understanding of our little piece of the universe. There we are how small or how small the world is compared to the rest of the Galaxy is really amazing when you stop to check. I have touched only on a very small part of it!

3D astronomer is an interesting way to explore the solar system. You can visit one of the nine planets in our solar system, or why not call on another Galaxy all together! For more information please go read the 3D astronomer section on the page "Space Shuttle Stuff" of SpaceShuttleFacts.com and your there, why not some learn interesting facts about space shuttles!

NEO-asteroid once part of which earth or the moon - it is very possible further examinations required

Apparently, scientists have discovered an asteroid, which seems to be cruise to the solar system into a near Earth orbit. The question is, was this asteroid to the Earth, part of it was part of the Moon, and that's what scientists want to know. Asteroids floating around in a Lagrange point may have and it ended up trapped, or it could have a piece of ejecta from the Earth at some point in the past. The reality is that we just do not know.

What we do know is that it exists, and we can see it. It is not that we are no threat in the next hundred thousand years of on Earth, but it pretty interesting is. There was an interesting article in SpaceDaily online with the title "discovery is new Earth companion," which was posted by the staff writers in London on 7 April 2011.

The article explains; "Astronomers of Armagh Observatory in Northern Ireland have found that a recently discovered asteroid the Earth in motion around the Sun for pursuing has at least the last 250,000 years and on the origin of our planet closely connected can."

We know that it was for other planets, asteroids, and often scientists that they have in their Lagrangian point ended, and that they most likely there landed from getting as they were thrown around the solar system had caught their guiding curves distracted by gravitational forces, which slows it down. This asteroid had a similar past in the near Earth object or can have? There is a way to find out, right?

NASA can sure go and check it out. We have sent other checkpoints on asteroids in the past. By taking a sample that asteroids could we agree to it, so that the consistency of the Earth and the Moon and see if it once was a part of us, what makes the most sense, or least scientists and astronomers speculate. If not, it could give us evidence how asteroids trajectories and orbits develop and decay in the course of time on. This could help us predict their future routes.

There is much to learn, but right now we have more questions than answers, that's okay, but more control would ask these questions. In fact, I hope you please look at all this and think about it. If you have any questions, shoot comments, an E-mail please me as soon as possible concerns or alternative theories.

Perhaps life on a moon or planet is a predictable time in evolutionary life cycle

It is interesting that we have come to the conclusion that there is life on Mars billions of years seem. Also, it seems that it is organic material on the Moon, and here, having the same material stocks, as we on Earth with many non-metallic minerals directly on the surface. We have also found what we believe, be or a sign of life on some asteroid is likely. In fact, we have found the building blocks of life, questions whether life of space rock to planet is delivered makes us not.

Recently, there was a very good segment on the science channel which discussed all of the planets in the solar system and was on life would be to look at. One of the quotes was "Follow the water" that was a start in the old detective line "the money follow" If you want to catch a criminal. But what needs to have water on the planet, H2O is quite easy, hydrogen and oxygen, and they usually combine.

If there is a presence of water, and the building blocks of life, which lands on a planet it could useful form to receive life as we know it, such as the conditions the life here on Earth to be or expect, they that are entitled. Is it possible that life exists when a planet evolutionary time is right? That is, it appears that might make life on a moon or planet at relatively predictable evolutionary life cycle. Of course I am not such a statement to make, as it is in fact a theory of species, which, to study the planetary bodies.

Us exists a planet for let say 12 to 15,000,000,000 years then at some point in the Middle it is ripe for the support of life. The type of life that we expect to find, we live life, which is based on the type of genetic material see here on Earth. It is therefore a good giveaway for the lifecycle point maybe a question of life cycle instead of the size or nature of the planet, even though the atmosphere, oceans or fluid of the planet.

Okay, so that, if we expect life on a particular planet we need to look at life cycle and where it is in this respect his evolutionary timeline. And if the premium point of life cycle, that is, when the fullness of life is found and its find past its Prime we live, but we have it find to dig a little deeper and we should be no surprise in this context either. In fact, I hope you please look at all this and think about it.

Cosmology: Size and shape of the universe

Translate Request has too much data
Parameter name: request
Translate Request has too much data
Parameter name: request

If our Universe has a finite volume, which it apparently should have since it had a finite size at the time of its origin - the Big Bang event - 13.7 billion years ago, then it must have some sort of overall size and no doubt shape, a shape only apparent assuming one could view it from a suitable distance. So, what's the size and shape of our Universe and what determines that?

To start this off, one can not measure the absolute size of the Universe, because 1) its expanding, so its size is constantly increasing, but more to the point, 2) we can only measure what we can actually observe. Since light has a finite velocity, even if it is the fastest thing going, there could be objects so far out that their light hasn't had time enough to reach us yet, so we know nothing about them or the existence of the space that they reside in. However, one can surmise that if the Big Bang event happened 13.7 billion years ago, and given that the speed of light is the fastest velocity known, then presumably the Universe must have a radius of 13.7 billion light years.

But just to complicate things, we also can not know the absolute size of our Universe due to, and subsequent to, the Big Bang event because the expansion rate of our Universe keeps changing. It was usually thought that the expansion rate of our Universe must slow down under the very gravity that the Universe has. Whether or not it would ultimately stop, and reverse direction wasn't known - the jury was out. Then, in the late 1990's, it was discovered that the expansion rate of our Universe was accelerating, due to some mysterious antigravity force which is little understood, called 'dark energy'. So, the now current assumption is that the Universe will keep on expanding, ever expanding, ever faster and faster due to this repulsive force, 'dark energy'.

We can however in theory measure the shape of the Universe. The shape however depends on how much mass there is and how that arrangement of mass shapes space and time, or space-time. That is, if you could trace the pathway of a ray of light, how it travels ultimately depends on what mass it encounters and hence the pathway of light defines the shape. It all boils down to geometry. Just because the Big Bang event is viewed as a sort of explosion spewing out matter and energy in all directions, doesn't ultimately mean the Universe is spherical in shape.

If the Universe is ultimately going to tend towards becoming infinite in size (never actually getting there but ever struggling to get there), that's one possibility. That situation would arise if the expanding Universe were either flat (where the angles of a triangle add up to 180 degrees) or saddle-shaped (where the angles of a triangle add up to less than 180 degrees).

A saddle-shaped Universe suggests that beams of light will spread ever father and farther apart, even though encounters with clumps of matter will cause temporary and minor deviations. So, if you shine two flashlight beams parallel to each other, they will every so slowly diverge.

A Flat Universe suggests that a beam of light, while being deflected up and down, right and left, forward and backward, as it encounters various massive (light bending) objects, nevertheless ultimately and statistically tends to move in an overall straight line. The two flashlight beams, starting off in parallel, will in the long term remain parallel.

The best evidence to hand suggests that the Universe is flat. But, recall that your backyard is also flat, yet in practice it's got to have an ever so slight curve to it, because its part of the Earth's surface and the Earth's surface is curved. So maybe the Universe is likewise curved, but so vast that all that we can see appears as flat as your backyard!

Of course even a flat Universe could have a finite size (actually must have since the Big Bang event spewed out a finite amount of stuff), but still have an infinite amount of space available beyond to continue to expand into. This however runs counter to the standard model of cosmology, which states that space itself is expanding. I tend to go against that grain and assume that the expansion of our Universe is through pre-existing space.

What if the mass distribution is such that a light beam will be forced to ultimately curve back around like an ant crawling around the surface of a ball? Then the Universe is a closed Universe. The Universe is really a spherical Universe. Our flashlight beams will ultimately circle round the cosmos and smack us in the back!

If the Universe is always going to be finite in size, (spherical - where the angles of a triangle add up to more than 180 degrees), that's unsettling since the question to be obviously addressed is what's beyond the edge. The Earth is a finite sphere in size, but there's something beyond Earth's edge - beyond its surface. The Earth is actually unbounded, in that there are no boundaries to your traveling around, and around and around the planet, traveling in a constant direction, and always ending up back at your starting point. But, what if you travel in the 'up' direction? 'Up' is beyond the edge. But, if the entire Universe is closed and spherical, what's the equivalent of 'up'?

If the Universe has a finite size; a finite volume; a finite shape, it's probably fairly safe to assume the spherical and not some other shape, like a cube, or a pyramid or an irregular shape like a blob or like that of an amoeba. It would tax theoretical cosmologists beyond their breaking point I'm sure to come up with a cubic Universe! As noted above, an explosion, such as the Big Bang event tends to be viewed, tends to expand outwards as a sphere.

Could the Universe be far smaller than currently thought? If it is finite, yet unbounded like the Earth, a sphere, then light traveling away from any object will go around in a circle and end up back at its starting point. If the Universe is very small, then light from those objects will have gone round and round and round and round many times, and so we'll see multiple copies of whatever objects emitted the light in the first place. If all of the visible objects in the Universe are copies upon copies of just a few objects, then the volume enclosing the Universe could be a lot smaller than it has to be. We assume that each object we see in the distant Universe; each visible object we interpret as being a unique object. But, that distant galaxy we see way out back of beyond could just be a visible copy of our own galaxy!

In one sense, the size of our Universe is twofold. There's a maximum extent to which the fastest flung bits (stuff or matter) of our Universe, courtesy of the Big Bang event, have traveled. However, these bits of stuff or matter can radiate light (or other electromagnetic waves like radio or infrared) which travels even faster than the stuff and bits which emit them. So, the maximum size of our Universe is how far light, radio waves, infrared, etc. has been able to go from whatever radiating object is farthest away from the original point of origin. As noted above therefore, the Universe has a minimum radius of 13.7 light years.

An analogy: imaging 1000 cars in a parking lot. At time equals zero when the gun goes off, all the cars start off. Some cars head north (N), some south (S), some east (E) and some west (W). Some go off towards the NW, or SW or NE or SE. There are some drivers who decide that a NNE, SSE, NNW, SSW, ENE, ESE, WNW, or WSW direction is a good bet. Now 10% of the cars travel at 10 km/hour; 10% at 20 km/hour; 10% at 30 km/hour, etc. all the way up to 10% racing along at 100 km/hour. After one hour, the cars going at 100 km/hour form a sort of furthest away physical boundary around the original parking lot. But, each car is also blowing its horn, and the speed of sound is a lot faster than 100 km/hour. So, there's another, farther out boundary - a sound boundary.

Anyway, back to the shape of the Universe. Now the shape of the Universe will ultimately be determined by gravity or by how much mass the Universe actually has. Mass or matter (gravity) 'tells' space-time how to warp or curve; space-time 'tells' matter how to move. In other words, gravity is geometry. But if gravity is geometry, what is antigravity ('dark energy')?

I suspect the recent (1998) discovery of 'dark energy' might provide an additional clue or two to the shape of the Universe. Apparently 'dark energy' is an intrinsic property of space itself. It's causing the expansion of the Universe to ever accelerate, instead of the Universe decelerating as if only gravity existed. The reasoning, if you accept the standard model, is that if space itself is expanding, and if 'dark energy' is a property of space, then with every passing second more and more space exists, therefore more and more 'dark energy' exists, which in turn produces even more space ever more quickly, producing more 'dark energy', and so on. If that's so, there's no way our Universe will ever stop growing in size.

If gravity is geometry, 'dark energy' also has to be geometry IMHO, but of a different shape. Gravity is like a bowl. Place marbles around the rim, and they all come together at the bottom. The marbles are attracted to each other by the geometry they find themselves part and parcel of. However, 'dark energy' (antigravity) is dominating the Universe, so the Universe has to have an overall shape conducive to antigravity. Such a shape would be saddle-shaped (recall where the angles of a triangle are less than 180 degrees). Place the marbles at the top of the saddle, let them roll, and they spread apart, faster and faster. Or, instead of a saddle-shape, just turn the above mentioned gravity bowl upside down into a 'dark energy' geometry where the marbles run off and down the sides and separate ever faster and faster - just like our real observable Universe.

Even though the general evidence is for a flat Universe, recall the backyard analogy. The Universe could still be saddle-shaped (or upside-down bowl shaped), yet so big that our tiny corner just seems flat.

If we accept a saddle-shaped Universe as the overall picture, then embedded within this ever accelerating 'dark energy' antigravity dominated cosmic geometry are pockets of positive gravity, galaxies and clusters of galaxies, etc. like raisins in a loaf of raisin bread. Or, using the bowl analogy, there is an observable Universe that's akin to an upside down 'dark energy' bowl, but embedded within are tiny right side up gravity bowls that correspond to the positive gravity hunks of mass we observe, like the galaxies.

The ultimate key here is to get an absolute fix on how much mass there is in our Universe. That determines its overall shape, and will ultimately determine whether our Universe will tend more and more towards achieving an ultimate infinite size, or remain a manageable forever finite size.

Cosmology: The State of the universe

Over the past 2000+ years, three undeniable trends have emerged in our on-going studies of life, the Universe and everything. It's probably worth while keeping these in mind when pondering the cosmos and what future discoveries are likely to reveal.

Firstly, our place in the central scheme of things has gone from be-all-and-end-all uniqueness, a unique life form created in God's image, the cream of all there is and ever will be, to, well, just another life form in the Darwinian scheme of things. Detection of extraterrestrial life, especially extraterrestrial intelligence will be the final straw (nail) in that scenario (coffin).

Secondly, we've shrunk in potential significance because the size of the Universe keeps getting bigger and bigger and bigger as instrumentation and observations get better and better. We've become displaced as well. Earth is no longer all there is (the be-all-and-end-all of real estate) and the centre of everything (we've been moved from the CBD to the boonies several times over) as well. We're not located at the centre of things and as our visions of the size of the Universe has ever increased over time, will there ever be an end to it?

Thirdly, cosmological common sense has decreased, given way to weirdness. Or, depending on your point of view (POV), weirdness has increased over time in all things cosmological. The well ordered and common sense cosmology of Genesis or the ancient Greeks was pretty straight forward. Even up through the life and times of Copernicus, Galileo, Kepler, Brahe and Newton that was still pretty much the case, albeit with the invention of the telescope things did get a little weirder (and more unsettling) with respect to Genesis (and the Church) and the ancient Greeks (and other ancient societies like the Chinese). Then, ever accelerating, the weirdness quotient, the scientific fertilizer, really hit the fan! In fairly short order, uncommon sense descriptions of the cosmos and the stuff in it. Concepts like relativity, space-time, quantum mechanics, black holes, wormholes, dark matter, dark energy, antimatter, atomic structure, and string/superstring theory. Nothing made much common sense anymore. I suspect that's a trend that's also likely to continue. In fact, you can probably bet on it.

Now on to the Big Questions (and little answers):

Q: Did God or Nature Create the Universe or Multiverse?

A: Here I opt for nature. If God can create one universe, God can create more than one universe (but what would be the point of doing so?). If nature can create one universe, then nature can create more than one universe. Since nature isn't intelligent, creation of multi-universes (the Multiverse) is more like to be a natural than a supernatural event. That is, it's probably illogical to create more than one universe where one will do - so that eliminates the God hypothesis since we assume that a God would be logical. Nature however tends to be prolific. Since nature, that is the laws of physics as we understand them, can adequately explain the creation of a universe(s), there is no need to appeal to a supernatural being or higher authority or universal designer, or whatever.

Q: Is There A Universe or A Multiverse?

A: Here I opt for the Multiverse. But the background to the Multiverse, that which contains the Multiverse, is something I call the "Superverse". There is, always has been and always will be a super vast expanse (call it the all being "Superverse") of nothing - that is, the vacuum (lowest possible) energy (state) which seethes with quantum activity and pervades everything. That's the bottom line. I don't know how big the Superverse of vacuum energy is, maybe it's infinite (but cosmologists, physicists and I too like to steer clear of the can-of-worms that is infinity), but when I consider the following progression, logic suggests 'pretty damn big'. Just as an atomic nucleus is tiny relative to an atom; an atom is tiny relative to you; you are tiny relative to Planet Earth; Planet Earth is tiny relative to our solar system; the solar system is tiny relative to the Milky Way Galaxy; our galaxy is tiny relative to the super-cluster of galaxies of which it is a part; our super-cluster of galaxies is tiny relative to the observable universe. That's as far as knowledge can take us, but if the progression continues, then our observable universe will be tiny relative to our Universe; our Universe is tiny compared to the Multiverse, all of which resides with the Superverse energy vacuum!

Q: What is the Origin and Fate of Our Universe? Is the Universe Open or Closed? Will There Be A Heat Death or A Big Crunch? How Can A Universe Be Created?

A: I opt for death by Big Crunch despite all the evidence currently against it! I reason as follows - we know matter can create energy. The reverse is also possible - energy can create matter. That's because, as per Einstein's famous equation, matter and energy are opposite sides of the same coin. And thus the all pervasive, all surrounding, vacuum energy, seething with quantum uncertainty (albeit certain quantum activity), will now and again produce particles, thus reducing the overall energy of the vacuum. This energy debt must eventually be repaid, so said particles usually decay (annihilate actually) back into pure energy and rejoin the vacuum pretty quick-smart. But, it's possible that those particles, could, by chance, evolve into an entire universe. Particles, if they exist long enough, will be subjected to all manner of quantum effects and thus evolve into a universe instead of being immediately reabsorbed back into the energy vacuum. The energy debt however still must be eventually repaid, but who's to say how quickly that is required? So, ultimately, in order to repay that energy debt, our Universe will need to ultimately collapse (undergo Big Crunch) back into the Superverse energy vacuum from which it originally came and pay the energy debt. The Universe (our Universe) begins and ends as pure energy - energy borrowed from the vacuum; energy returned to the vacuum. How exactly that Big Crunch is going to come about I know not, I'm just convinced it will happen.

So, why aren't new universes being created from scratch in our backyards (where the energy vacuum holds sway as it does everywhere)? Because, for any given tiny area (like your backyard), under the relatively low probabilities of the exact circumstances coming together just so, it's going to take trillions of years for it to happen. But, given the vast acreage of the Superverse, new universes probably pop into (and out of) existence on a fairly regular basis. It's like you are fairly unlikely to have a meteor land in your backyard tomorrow, but somewhere tomorrow a meteor is likely to hit our planet.

Now, what if the vacuum energy (Superverse) can not produce a universe? Well, the next best (second) option I suggest is the black hole as a universal motherhood idea. That is, the extreme conditions that produce a black hole in one universe ends up producing a new universe in a different place (obviously), maybe in a different time. Our black hole connects us to that new universe, but no physicist would advise you to make the trip! At least this origin-of-a-baby-universe doesn't rely on a Big Crunch ending.

The third best option is the Big Crunch of one universe producing the Big Bang of the next, but from observations, the prospect of a Big Crunch is dicey at best. But, I like to give the prospect of a Big Crunch the benefit of the doubt. Further, there's nothing to say that option two, black holes, couldn't produce a baby universe that would end up cyclic - Big Bang - expansion - contraction - Big Crunch - Big Bang, etc. Reproduction and reincarnation!

Lastly, albeit unlikely in the extreme yet I've sure sci-fi writers have a ball with this idea, is that advanced E.T. could manufacture a universe using the laws of physics, especially quantum physics, to do so. If nature can manufacture a universe, could not intelligence also manufacture a universe? Call it the mother of all engineering achievements. Now this differs from God creating universes, in that presumably God knows He/She/It can do so and knows the outcome to the Nth degree, but to E.T., this is just a scientific experiment. Whether an E.T. created universe would take on a life and evolution of its own, who knows? Now you'd think that creating a rapidly expanding universe in the laboratory would end up destroying said lab and surroundings. Of course maybe the physics of baby universe creation dictates that the universe forms elsewhere and/or elsewhen! One other scenario is that once universe creation becomes so routine as to end up being part and parcel of the science lab curricula at E.T. Junior High School, then it's going to be universes galore - maybe that why we have a Multiverse!

Q: Does Our Universe or Multiverse Have an Existence that's Finite or Infinite in Time?

A: The philosophical answer here is 'infinite'. One can never get away from the question "Well that's fine, but what happened before that?" Even if our specific Universe had a beginning, there was a before the Big Bang that extends the timeline back, and back, and back. If our Universe continues to expand forever, well forever equals infinity. If our Universe continues to expand forever, well forever equals infinity. If our Universe ends in a Big Crunch that kick-starts off the existence of another universe, then the timeline of the cosmos continues onward, ever onward.

Q: To Quantum or Not to Quantum the Big Bang?

A: Here I opt for the Big Bang as a non-quantum event. I just can't figure out how you can cram the entire contents of our Universe into a space smaller than an atom at the point of origin. In any event, if the point of origin of the Big Bang were a singularity, then because singularities can't have zero dimensions and infinite density - that just makes no sense at all - then said singularity could have been large enough to exceed the volumes commonly associated with quantum physics.

Q: Are the Laws of Physics the Same or Different in Various Universes?

A: The answer here is unknown and probably unknowable. However, I suspect that there is only one type of physics possible - as Einstein is quoted, 'did God have any choice in the matter?' - or maybe not. Anyway, my reasoning is that assuming that all universes arise from a common cause, say the Superverse vacuum energy or via Lee Smolin's black holes as universe generators, or the budding off of universes via chaotic/eternal inflation, with no evidence to the contrary, it's probably more logical to suspect that only one type of physics exists, and each universe will be the same - physics wise. But, what if you introduce extraterrestrial intelligence into the picture? Maybe, just maybe, intelligence advanced enough to create universes, may be intelligent enough to tweak the laws of physics and alter them. That certainly would be easy enough to do if you created computer software that simulated universes, each software package having different physics programmed in! So, maybe it's just as well to fence sit on this issue.

Q: Is our Universe (Hence Ourselves) Really Real or Simulated?

A: The odds overwhelmingly favor our reality as being a simulated one. If that could be proved, it would also be likely proof of the existence of extraterrestrial intelligence. If all terrestrial life is simulated, who else is left to simulate us but extraterrestrials? I just bet we're some alien's Ph D thesis. The possibility of course exists that humans from what we would term the future have simulated us and the running simulation has only reached a simulated early 21st Century. Of course this is a fairly unpalatable theory, so I'll just conclude here that the odds are overwhelmingly in favor of my being wrong.

Chandra and x-ray astronomy

Have you ever thought how we know that black holes exist? There are ways, for example, we can observe the orbits of celestial objects. If it seems that they are revolving around a planet or a star not you can pretty much bet that they are circles of a black hole then. Another possibility is when the stars of a certain scale die they explode or they go Supernova and when they do unleash a flood of cosmic rays and X-rays, in this case that goes Chandra X-ray telescope to work are one of those types of rays. Chandra x-ray Observatory is named after the late astrophysicist Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar. The Observatory was published in the space of the space shuttle Columbia (STS-93) on 23 July 1999. Weighing in at over £ 50,000 it was until then, the largest ever carried out a shuttle payload. This enormous amount of weight was largely on the inertial upper stage rocket, which was required, to the telescope on its orbit around 83 000 km above the Earth wear due to. It is safe from radiation from the passing that could be detrimental to the telescope of the orbits of geostationary satellites and is also clearly in this amount. The Observatory is operated by the Chandra x-ray Center at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in Cambridge, mass, and is from the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL managed. You can ask, why we rated this exploding stars from the earth can only be not? Well the answer is absorbed just the Earth's atmosphere X-ray beam X-ray beam, that are the universe in transit must be collected from based space equipment. We can observe the remains of Supernova from Earth but the amount of time, the light you reach us Umsatzsteigerungs range anywhere from hundreds of years on ten's of thousands of years, or longer. Chandra gives us more a real time indication, when their fate, now let these stars gives us to nuts and bolts of how of this incredible piece of equipment!

The telescope has four mirrors, which with the very rare element Iridium (IR-77) as Coated reflector acts that are collecting which, from the x-ray emissions and the photons (the basic unit of light). The source for these types of high energy X-rays are extremely hot gases are usually a galactic event, such as a supernova associated with. The first known source for this kind of x-ray, outside of the Sun, 1962 was based on constellation Scorpio was discovered and named Scorpius X-1 (SCO X-1). The mirror on Chandra are nested within another, and are at an angle, which is almost perpendicular to the incoming X-rays, so that when they meet they beat the 2 upper mirror and continue with the 2 lower levels, these double skip is essential for the X-rays at the core, they then travel to a 26-foot tube in the direction of the telescopes scientific instruments coming down positioned. Travel in the direction of these instruments covers, which have thousands of thin openings move into the path of the beam. This grid's separating the X-rays of their wavelength, this step is very important because it provides valuable information on each beam certain elements as the targets density, temperature and movement. The instruments used, the information in the x-rays/photon processing are used the advanced CCD Imaging Spectrometer (ACIS) which provides images and spectral information of the specific object and a high resolution camera (HRC) that a micro channel plate (MCP) is used for the detection of particles such as ions, electrons, and radiation from UV-rays and X-rays. These two instruments can be used in unison or independently of each other as needed.

One of the many remarkable photos of Chandra occurred on 5 September 2001 when it zeroed on a highly active area of x-ray activity. The source was later determined to the border in the constellation Sagittarius and Scorpius date be but by scientists who try, find it in the optical spectrum hidden, this was in part to dust off the arm of the milky way, the it shielding. Chandra went to work and recorded some of the X-ray coming from her and a nice picture of what far among scientists as a supermassive black hole called Sagittarius or simply say be considered * residence very close to the Centre of our own galaxy, and it is all that unfortunate enough to get, is to close it devours. It is estimated that this particular black hole 4 is. 1 Million solar masses to this number, put into perspective the Sun is only 1 solar mass and it is 109 times larger than the Earth! So say A * supermassive is classified, because it could easily swallow up our entire solar system, as if the two ever met. Scientists at UCLA have also the theory that it about 10,000 smaller black holes and neutron stars, stars rated composed of neutrons, usually because they go Supernova, A SAG circling *. These provide a steady diet for the black hole than every 1 million years one gets this smaller black holes or neutron stars engulfed by SAG A * and its gravitational to an infinite density is squeezed from the iron grip. Black crush holes not only objects with their gravitational force like but she warp also things with this same group and is one of those things the fourth dimension, time. Time is so warped into a black hole, that Einstein's theory of relativity breaks down and can not be used instead quantum gravity calculations must be applied.

All this talk of exploding stars and black holes could make you feel uncomfortable, but the probability of say A * and earth over paths is very low, especially when you consider that is say A * about 25, 000 light years from Earth and 1 light-year is equal to 5. 87 trillion miles, of course, is reduce this distance holds, as that continues to expand black hole, but how it does the strength of its gravitational proportionally reduced. Chandra has over the years, with his x-ray vision, collection is located and shown the world of celestial objects, which would have been otherwise unrecognizable. This has the brilliant minds allows has been developed and this remarkable piece assembled equipment from the folks at Northrup Grumman, polished Chandra, the folks at Raytheon optical systems, which is ground and polished the mirror on the team at optical coating Labs built the lenses further to 99. 99% dust free. This was a typical NASA team effort and as usual it was carried out with the professionalism that has become the Agency calling card. Chandra will finally be to educate disabled and left out in space, but the contributions, which continues to have it for science to future generations for years and years to come.

Three types of telescopes - astronomy 101 for beginners

The many types of telescopes are a good start of the price of a novice telescope around $400.00. You can output depending on less more of functions that you spend, but you can. With a little research, you will find some very good telescopes for under $300.00.

First take a look at for a telescope, provides the good quality optics. Another important feature is a good smooth work ever mounted. It is also good to see that larger species of the telescopes are easier to use and display are more than the smaller types, but also less portable. Look at how to use your telescope, and your telescope will be whether you take travelling, or if it will be at a fixed location.

Three basic types of telescopes

Refractors - probably the best known to many people. The lens is mounted in front. The refractor types of telescopes need not usually much care, but can be more expensive, as you increase the aperture.

Reflectors - this type of telescope are generally less expensive for similar openings. Reflectors work over a mirror on the back of the tube. Maintenance is low, but occasional adjustments to the optical alignment will be needed.

Compound - this type of telescope are also catadioptric telescopes. You work with a combination of mirrors and lenses. They are relatively easily with a compact type tube.

Regardless of which telescope that you actually buy a very important function truly the best is aperture. A telescope has a light gather, mirror or lens. This is called the target, and its diameter is the aperture (D), which is specified in millimeters. It is higher than for a 75 mm Aperture for a.

The higher the aperture, the better and more spectacular view. It's so easy.

Telescope mounts

A telescope mount, other than the typical camera tripod, which takes place usually in place of a single screw must be very stable and robust, correctly view this. A simple and easy is to use an old Azimuth. It has the ability to get from one side to the other and above or slightly below.

There are basically two types of telescope mounts. Along with the ALT-azimuth are the Equatorial mounts that are typically a bit larger.

The mount has the ability to objects with only one axle to rotate to track. Equatorial mounts must also in accordance with the North Star will work properly.

Some types of telescopes have motors and control units to control their movement. Some are computerized and can enter data, such as the location, time and date and your telescope will track runs on auto-pilot and according to the input data.

The sky's the limit when it comes to accessorizing and add features. With so many kinds of telescopes make sure the selection that is right for you, in which.

Take a moment and visit the telescope eyepieces online, where you view and compare high-quality beginners telescope and more to great prices and huge savings. You are literally think the right telescope to an incredible new world of celestial wonders for many years.

Is global climate change occurs because Earth's orbit Decaying?

Not too long ago, I spoke to a climate science expert, which some 28 years with the study of the ambient temperature would spend increasing Earth and had the theories he swam long ago, perhaps in the early 1980s was that "the real reason is that the Earth's orbit around the Sun is decaying." Now then, that is an interesting theory is there - in fact, it is. O.k. so let us discuss this for a moment we are?

First, although we (humanity) have studied the distance from the earth around the Sun, we have not studied it for all appropriate period (10,000 years + for example), it is quite plausible change these distances, with the Sun energy tax, which easily could have lasting 100 s cycles, we do not know 10s of millions, hundreds of millions or billions of years, 1000s, 10000s, 100000s millions, and have empirical evidence to know. We know that the railways of the electrons change with the energy with an atom to something similar to that.

My acquaintance notes that "greenhouse gases makes much sense in the summer, but no point in the winter, and if something doesn't make sense, that it is in General not true." "The orbital decay theory makes sense in the summer and winter [in this regard]." Now, this is certainly a fun theory, perhaps even a conspiracy theory, because if it were so, then surely would know NASA about it, and they would all of us to warn their findings? Now, what is if they knew, and wanted to haunt our people into a mad frenzy?

My acquaintance went to to keep in mind that; "In the summer there is absorb sufficient irradiance (heat) from the Sun for green house gases."

Okay, so, that's an interesting correlation to it, is not, yes but although the amount of Green House gasses in the atmosphere of the percentage could also with something else, perhaps an atmosphere contraction which percentages green throw yourself house gases, therefore the data of influenced. In addition, not we should assume that one is the cause of the other, or a direct result of such. Furthermore, let us not forget that increased greenhouse gases are not bad for life on the surface of the planet, in fact they are good, so that in Realty it is a positive one.

Warming periods good for life, ice ages, are good, if you through a life not so good.

In fact, I hope you please look at all this and think about it.

How does it feel to touch the stars?

In order to achieve a star has a infinite patience and unquestionable courage.

The Majesty, you look at the foot of the Rocky Mountains does the visions and dreams.

Hiking trails in the Valley, beyond the human presence of travel are at the gateway. Traces of the heritage and understanding of the visions of the few that have passed through.

Astraevs, named came after the God of stars, in the wilderness of the Rockies during only a foal; His never successfully accommodate his spirit, his self-determination, yet his raw power; at 18 hands, he would not behind made are. In the darkness and silence of the forest and the stars lead him the trail he knew he was home.

Now, years later break out of the tree line of the forest his movements were quick. Spring came, and done for many years as he had, he was below his flock to escort to the valleys. Did you know no fencing, no limits set; Their house was vast and free of people.

The Sun's rays clarified the hidden shadows as the herd passed the way in the direction of the valleys. Emerald ponds reflects the shadow sea eagles soaring above the snow cover the mountains stop long enough to rest and then disappear their venture on the West Coast, where she would meet the millions of salmon along the mighty Fraser River continues far beyond the Summit.

Astraevs stand up to the Crown of the head the ridge in the landscape. It was anxious to greet their destination a long winter and the flock. His eyes followed the fouls, and Colts, always wanting to stop and play, trot in rows of trees along the hiking. He observed strong mothers the trail, descending in their steps carefully. He knew that the way to this point would be safe for their journey; Ingot of berries and seeds, only draws the winter white OWL, nesting in the silence in the stump of the fallen Evergreen protect their young, which were settled deep in the trough.

At the end of the day she gathered with young in the midst of them; Remained Astraevs, standing alone, soldier on the highest Hill, mixed with the shadows, the roles you positioned the stone cliffs. The stars, its stars so bright that the Moon traveled their shadows. Silence travelled along the way. His courage is not questioned; his unwavering loyalty. The flock moves continuously, day and night. In the distance, the silence of the forest was swallowed up by the sounds of the waterfall, the water on the stones crumble and carrying on in the spring ponds surrounded by valleys and where their home would make them, until the leaves fall, surrounding it.

At the outset, there's no law of physics (or even of God) that says that there can be (or must be) one and only one universe, our Universe.

Three questions arise - the mechanism for the origin and evolution of other universes; what types of Multiverses can be generated; and what can the concept of a Multiverse explain that the existence of our sole Universe cannot explain?

Ways, Means and Mechanisms That Generate a Multiverse:

In the infinite beginning, there existed from square one, more than one universe. No origin event(s) are required. However, those universes will evolve and ultimately morph into other universes.

The Many Worlds Interpretation of all things quantum states that when anything within our Universe is forced to make an either/or decision, between two or more pathways or alternatives, each and every pathway or alternative is taken - because Mother Nature cannot make up Her mind between equal probabilities! Thus, to accommodate each and every possible choice, the Universe splits into as many other universes as is necessary to cater for all possible outcomes. Thus, where there existed initially one universe - our Universe - now there must exist an extra one, or two, or three, or whatever number of universes because our Universe had to make a decision between two, three, or whatever number of choices confronted it. Multiply that by how many crossroads our Universe comes to each and every microsecond, and you have the beginnings of a Multiverse in real quick-smart fashion.

Baby Universes via Black Holes: An advanced extraterrestrial technology might be able to create or manufacture baby universes by creating or manufacturing Black Holes. The recipe itself is simple - take a lump of matter and squeeze it down to such a density that its gravitational escape velocity exceeds that of the speed of light. Such is the text of 'Universe Manufacturing 101'. Of course one doesn't of necessity need ET. A universe with the sort of physics that permit Black Holes to form will 'breed' because those Black Holes will produce baby universes, presumably with the sort of suitable physics that will allow for further Black Holes, etc.

Bubble Universes via Inflation: To adequately explain various observational properties of our Universe, the concept of a rapid period of inflation around the time of the Big Bang event (I've seen inflation invoked both just before and just after the 'bang' itself) has been proposed. For the briefest of times, the Universe's expansion accelerated at a fantastic pace before running out of puff. The fly in the ointment is that if inflation didn't stop at the exact same nanosecond everywhere, then you'd get smaller pockets or bubbles of inflation continuing, and that each separate inflating bubble wouldn't stop at the exact same nanosecond, creating more bubbles, etc. Each separate pocket or bubble would inflate so fast and break off from the parent inflationary event to form another universe. An analogy is to shake up a say, 1/3rd empty bottle of fizzy soft drink and open the top cap. What do you get - rapid inflation, that's what! Bubbles form and expand and give rise to other bubbles which create new bubbles. Each bubble is its own separate universe.

Quantum Fluctuations: The vacuum energy can give rise to virtual particles, which can turn into actual particles under suitable conditions. It's possible for the energy to come together intensely enough to perhaps create not just a pair of virtual particles, but an entire universe of particles. That could happen again and again, a multitude of times.

Video Games Analogy: There are a Multiverse of videogames within our Universe (i.e. - Planet Earth) - in two ways. One is the collective set of the thousands to maybe hundreds of thousands of individual video games within the marketplace. Each videogame equals one possible universe. The other is that each individual videogame has hundreds to hundreds of thousands of identical copies. So the videogame Multiverse has both individuality, and sameness. Perhaps our Universe is one copy of one individual 'video game' or 'computer simulation', within a sea of thousands of identical copies of that game, within a sea of thousands of other individual games/simulations!

Types of Multiverse:

Parallel / Shadow / Alternative / Mirror / Many Worlds / Higher Dimensional (String Theory's Branes perhaps) universes - collectively, these universes would have the same laws and principles of physics that we know and love (unless you're a physics student at exam time), although the ultimate nature and evolution of each and every one might differ. In other words, all these universes will be bio-friendly, though that doesn't mean of necessity that all will contain life. Basically, these universes are all variations on a theme of our own Universe.

Simulated / Video Games Universes - Okay, within these universes, anything goes. A computer program does not have to follow or obey or simulate the existing laws and principles of physics. You want faster-than-light-travel? You got it! You want antigravity? You can have that too! Do you want your heroine to survive travel through wormholes and Black Holes? Fine! All the terrestrial superheroes and superhero powers - a Superman, a Spiderman, a Green Lantern, the list is near endless - all is possible. You can botch an operation - the patient survives. You can crash a plane - no causalities. You can make the Sun stand still; perform miracles like the resurrection; create new life forms and new civilizations, and boldly go where in our Universe, no one can every go! You can have a Heaven and/or a Hell, or live unprotected upon the surface of Venus (which is the same as Hell only worse).

Bubble / Baby / Quantum Fluctuation Universes / Cyclic or Oscillating Universes (standard Big Bang expansions followed by Big Crunch contractions followed by Big Bang expansions, etc.) - collectively, these universes could be as different as chalk and cheese in that the laws and principles of physics could vary to a greater or lesser extent - but vary, well these universes just might. Think of all the laws, relationships and principles in physics and vary them to your heart's content. While each universe might be unique, the rules and regulations for each and everyone one is fixed.

The Multiverse Solves These Puzzles:

In reality, the idea of a Multiverse is more a logical outcome of current thinking and evolving understanding of various discoveries and trends in modern quantum/particle physics and cosmology, relative to being a tool used to explain actual data or anomalies or observations. The basic reason is that other universes, if existing, will tend to be so far away from us in time and/or in space as to exert no influence on what we observe; what data we collect. That's not to say that the concept of a Multiverse, in one guise or another, can't be used to help account for actual or philosophical anomalies.

For example, if the computer simulation of our and by extension any Multiverse is correct, that accounts for why there are apparently two sets of independent and incompatible software physics (quantum and classical) running the cosmos.

A computer generated Multiverse (lots of different computer generated simulations coupled with possible multiple copies of each) is in one sense a copout in that it can be used to explain anything. You can account for all data, all anomalies, all weirdness, everything natural and everything supernatural, everything logical and illogical, everything possible, and for that matter impossible. In a computer generated and simulated universe, you can indeed believe six impossible things before breakfast - 'Alice in Wonderland' or rather 'Through the Looking Glass' rules - OK? The existence of 'impossible things' does not of necessity invalidate the possibility however.

The concept of a Multiverse does provide the ways and means of examining other possible origins for our own Universe, which currently is (the standard Big Bang event) that first there was nothing and the there was something.

The there's the Anthropic Principle: In order to explain why our Universe is so fine-tuned in terms of the laws and relationships of physics that make our universe life-friendly, it is necessary to either postulate one hell of an incredible luck of the draw, or a supernatural creator being who exists outside of space-time. The Multiverse solves the quandary by postulating that with so many universes in existence, with so many combinations of possible laws and relations of physics, that at least one universe, based on sheer chance alone, would be life-friendly. Since we can only exist in a life-friendly universe, the Multiverse helps explain our very existence, without having to resort to bucking incredible improbability or relying on the supernatural.

Double Slit Experiment: If you fire one photon, say one every minute, at two parallel slits with a photographic plate behind them, you might expect that plate to show, eventually, two blobs of light - one behind each slit, as each individual photon bullet passed through one, or the other, slit. However, what you get is instead a classic interference pattern - alternating light bands with dark bands. Why is this so? Rather, how can this be? Since the one per minute photons aren't apparently acting like individual bullets, and yet since the only thing that can possibly cause classic wave interference is the presence of other, in addition to these one per minute photon bullets, photons, then where did these other photons come from? A logical explanation is that these photons are photons that enter or interact with our Universe from another parallel universe(s).

Time Travel Paradoxes: If time travel to the past is possible, and there is only one universe, our Universe, then paradoxes can arise. You can go back in time and murder your mother before you were conceived, which means you were never born, so you couldn't have gone back in time and murdered your mother, which means you were born... However, if you travel back in time to another universe, part of the Multiverse, and kill what for all appearances looks exactly like your real mother, but is in fact a parallel universe copy or look-alike, then there is no paradox, because your real biological mother, in the universe in which you were born and raised, remains alive.

Variations on the Many Worlds Interpretation Theme:

There's a variation that could apply to the Multiverse theme via the Many Worlds Interpretation of all things quantum. In the Many Worlds scenario, absolutely all possibilities are realized within any given 'moment' within the timeline. Each universe within the Multiverse has the additional complication (or added attraction) of having to jump through the Many Worlds hoops. So, to use a simple example, in one universe (A) within the Multiverse, you flip a coin and its heads. Coming to that fork in the road, a choice of heads or tails, that universe then splits into two, and you have flipped tails in the counterpart (B). Both possibilities have been realized. However, it is just as probable that there are enough universes within the Multiverse such that there was another universe (C) where you performed the identical flipping exercise and the coin came up tails (as in universe B). Postulating a Many Worlds Interpretation where there's a split and you toss heads (universe D), well that's already something that's happened (in universe A) - not in a Many Worlds scenario, but in another actual physical universe. Therefore, what need for any Many Worlds interpretations at all?

I'm not however entirely sure this apparent equivalence will sit well with quantum physicists, because I'm not entirely sure this is what quantum physicists mean by the phrase 'Many Worlds' (indeed, lots of quantum physicists deny any such interpretation at all exists - it's too big an ask for them). However, it seems to deal with the issue of That Cat! In two separate physical universes you have Schrodinger's Cat (in the box which has been constructed to have a 50/50 chance of killing it within one hour) experiment. Identical cats; identical setups; identical observers (and they can be identical because the fundamental bits that make them all up are identical - all electrons (neutrons, protons, etc.) are 100% clones of each other - absolutely identical). In one universe, the observer observes the cat alive after one hour; the other universe, well it's the demise of the feline. Neither universe has to split into two to cater for both possibilities of a living cat, and a dead cat. All possibilities have been exhausted without resorting to the requirement of a Many Worlds either/or split.

While I have little difficulty coming to terms with an infinite (or as close to infinite as makes no odds) number of universes (the Multiverse) that have collectively existed since the get-go in order to cater for all possibilities, I have some trouble coming to accept the idea that (Many) Worlds are created in an ongoing manner, as spin-offs, in response to evolving events that require this choice or that choice or the next choice. The difficulty, which I've never seen addressed in any books I've read on the subject is, where does all the additional matter/energy for the extra world - actually universe - come from? If a whole new universe is created to allow for the existence of both a cat that's alive and a dead cat (in that cat-in-the-box thought experiment), that additional universe (to cater for the other option) seems to be a free lunch - something created from nothing. That seems to be a violation of the conservation of matter/energy. That's much too big an ask for me to swallow! Therefore, I vote solely for the Multiverse, which because of the sheer numbers involved, allows for the incorporation of the Many Worlds Interpretation as a bonus. The only real difference I can see between the Multiverse and the Many Worlds Interpretation is that with Many Worlds, the outcomes (all possibilities realized) is certainty; with the Multiverse it's only probable or possible.

Refractor telescopes vs reflector telescopes

If you a telescope buying are interested in, you have probably heard telescope refractor and reflector. However, you may be unaware, the differences between the two and you should choose. The following both these telescopes will discuss more detail.

Refractor uses lenses to focus the light in the eyepiece of telescopes. This design is in many renowned find scopes and binoculars. Instead of lenses that focus light on a small mirror the telescope uses a large mirror. This light is then reflected in an eyepiece, which is found at the top of the telescope. The Newtonian reflector is one of the most popular of its kind and also the oldest.

Both these types have their advantages and disadvantages. The one you should choose based on what you it also used for, you will have how much money to spend.

Refractor telescopes

One of the main advantages of refractor telescope is that the pipe is not open, and you have still customize a mirror, there are almost no maintenance involved. The high models of this type have the most robust designs, while also producing images among the sharpest and brightest are that you will find per inch. Because it is below the eyepiece where shorter people can see, this area good for children is in addition to the fact that they are highly integrated.

The other side of this style is that she are some of the most expensive telescopes out there. She directly in the price is quite a bit after 3-inch.

Reflector telescopes

If you want to bang the most for your buck, telescopes reflector are a good option. This is because they do not so much cost to produce. This type is used to search for objects that are far behind our own solar system due to the size and image quality, which they produce. If you are in this for the long haul, then always a 4.5 inch (or more) hold reflector.

The disadvantage of the reflectors is that they are built not as strong and the mirrors have regularly adapted are. And because they are not closed, dust and dirt can create the also cleaning on the mirrors. This type is not a idea for children, because they are more vulnerable and are more difficult to reach, as is the eyepiece at the top of the telescope.

Venus, a mysterious planet

Although it is our closest neighbor, yet we do not much about Venus until recently known. Ancient civilizations but the persecution it was long ago the. Each had unique beliefs.

A planet with many names, we know it as Venus, the Roman goddess of love and beauty. The Greeks believed that it was two separate entities. Hesperus when they saw it in the morning, phosphorus when they saw it in the evening. Maya thought that Venus of Kukulkan, God was. Aztecs believed that it was Quetzalcoatl. They have to admire it for the interesting statements, came to describe it with this entity in their night sky!

Venus is an inner planet, the second from the Sun. It is the second brightest object in the night sky after the moon. Although you can watch it without tools, you can see not even with a telescope very much as it is covered in thick clouds, to reflect the light back. The only way to see past the clouds, is with a radar system.

In some ways Venus is similar to earth are almost the same size almost have almost the same density and gravity. Both have made thick atmospheres of gases. However, there must be no Moon, rings, or a magnetic field. Venus has a similar composition to the Earth as well.

Astronomers and scientists were curious to know what was in the clouds. Shuttle Atlantis rose two spacecraft to the space to find more about the surface, clouds and other data. In May 1989 on the STS-30 mission, Magellan to Venus rose orbit. In October 1989, Galileo was on the mission STS-34. Although Galileo's main goal was to explore Jupiter, it have to images of the clouds infrared a flyby of Venus in February 1990. Magellan named after the 16th century Explorer Ferdinand Magellan. Although launched Magellan was first it not went into orbit around Venus until August 1990. Magellan mapped the surface with a SAR synthetic aperture radar.

From these and other probes and spacecraft, we have learned a number of things. The surface is mostly flat with some deep, dusty and dry valleys. It is very hot, with a surface temperature of 860 °. This makes Venus the hottest planet in the solar system! Because the atmosphere is primarily carbon dioxide, Venus is uninhabitable. The air pressure is almost 100 times, the Earth. To give you an idea of how much that is, would the spacecraft that landed on the basis of a high pressure fail on the surface. Sometimes it rains on Venus, sulfuric acid and water vapor. Due to the high temperatures and dense clouds Venus, what some scientists "The greenhouse effect gone wild" call. Heat from the Sun is, but unable to escape what that means is. Very simply put, the clouds to keep the heat in.

We have learned much about Venus in the last centuries. We see are still in the evening or morning depending on what stage it is in. But somehow it seems even more mysterious the way it is hiding behind his clouds.

New telescope eyepieces will improve even the finest telescopes.

Should I change my eyepiece?

Now that you have bought or perhaps a new telescope given, you think about making it even better. One, the first things usually replace new telescope owner are to the telescope eyepieces. Many people, especially beginners, have a tendency to exaggerate, if it want to modernise their telescope eyepieces. You can find out about eyepieces, before you spend more money than you really, a bit of telescope to need.

Astronomy enthusiasts are no different from other enthusiasts, if it comes, she wrote, or in some cases passion. It is very natural to want to, bigger and better. At some point in time, you should probably update your telescope on a larger aperture model. However, it is a good alternative to more money than necessary, new eyepieces instead to check out. There are many quality telescope eyepieces out there, which carry out your current telescope feel like and how a new telescope.

The right telescope eyepieces have a positive effect on the brightness of images and improved the field of view and also the zoom. The changes in the views you get can be remarkable with the right eyepieces.

Do you know what you expect of your eyepieces

Good telescope eyepieces have functions that still improve optics working in conjunction with your telescopes and the improvement of its performance to justify enough additional costs.

You should look at telescope eyepieces, the best choice for the majority of users and works most of the telescopes. Most newbies astronomy are literally through the difference in view of experiences the quality telescope eyepieces compared to the eyepiece, which included their telescope blown be.

Simply put, is the answer to the original question to update your eyepiece. However, it is always good to do a little research and some helpful tips in advance.

Telescope eyepiece of buying tips

When buying, consider the following advice:

Viewing distance

Viewing distance is a term that should be the, which you are familiar with. It is the distance from the eye to the point in the eyepiece where the images are formed. The longer the viewing distance, more comfort in view. If you wear glasses, try telescope eyepieces with a viewing distance of 15 mm. One can better eyepiece for some adjustment in the eye distance, where are the costly, less. So, if you wear glasses the viewing distance is important. Even if you wear glasses do not, you must make sure that your eyelashes do not touch the lens enough viewing distance. Oils of your lashes can transfer the lens coating damage. So, clean telescope eyepieces you often.

The view - eyepiece size and diagonal

What you see, if you are looking telescope eyepieces in your largely by its size and determines the size of the diagonal. One diagonal is basically a Prism or mirror combined with a reflector. The image is reflected by the main lens to the eyepiece of the diagonal. The eyepiece fits into the diagonal that the telescope is mounted on the side or at the top of. The diagonal is an important factor, when it comes to the eyepiece focus

The industry standard is for diagonals on the most telescopes, you originally offer an inch and a quarter. As you insert various inch and a quarter eyepieces in different size focal lengths, you get different magnifications, and you can easily control the focus on the telescope.

Another option, which works well, if you have a long focal length on your telescope, is to add a two-inch diagonal. It helps with deep-sky-which more clearly into the dim-and fuzzy objects display.
It is quite a difference when viewing with a two inch eyepiece and could be compared with a view from the window of the space shuttle. With two inch eyepieces you can actually down, right, left and around which is very similar to how have your own Windows in the room.

A two inch eyepiece is designed for low-power and a wide FOV (field of view) that your image view bright and sharp of an edge on the other hand holds. You can still use your two inches diagonal with one and a quarter eyepiece, with the addition of an adapter. This is a good option if you need high performance to view planets and the Moon, but want to change not the diagonal.

Buy your telescope eyepiece wisely

Purchase can be eyepieces telescope slightly more expensive, but less expensive than a new telescope, to find manufacturers who offer money back guarantees and good support renowned. Online purchase is a good approach. There are many more options in one place and the seller are usually very serious. It is also easier to find more eyepiece provider online as in your local shopping mall.

Visit the telescope eyepieces online website, where you view and compare high-quality telescope eyepieces at great prices and huge savings.
